Biographical Information

Bob McKillop was a minor league infielder for four seasons, all in the Chicago White Sox chain.

The Toronto native made his pro debut in 1961, going 2 for 16 for the Clinton C-Sox and 14 for 72 with a double and triple for the Daytona Beach Islanders. In '62, he hit .235/.369/.330 as a corner infielder for Clinton. His .990 fielding percentage at 1B would have led Midwest Leaguers at that position had he qualified. In 1963, he produced at a .276/.432/.329 clip for the Sarasota Sun Sox. He led the Florida State League with 95 walks and he led the league's third basemen in assists (206), double plays (24) and fielding percentage (.954). He ended his US career in 1964 with Sarasota (.240/?/.302 in 99 G) and the Tidewater Tides (.241/?/.333 in 24 G).

McKillop was reinstated as an amateur in 1965. He was named MVP of the Intercounty Baseball League four times for his play for the Kitchener Panthers, making eight All-Star teams. He won three home run titles. He played for Team Canada in the 1967 Pan American Games but was banned after two games due to his prior professional experience. He later managed Kitchener as well and coaching the University of Waterloo to a national intercollegiate hockey title.
