Biographical Information

Bob Lurie purchased the San Francisco Giants on March 4, 1976, along with partner Bud Herseth, a meat-packer from Arizona. He owned the club until January 1993. When he purchased the team from Horace Stoneham, the Giants were on the verge of being sold to Labatt Breweries, based in Toronto, ON, who were planning to relocate the team there, when the city of San Francisco, CA obtained a restraining order to give it time to find a new local owner. Lurie then stepped in.
