Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Larmore out-hit Rogers Hornsby. Larmore came up to the 1918 St. Louis Cardinals at a time when Hornsby was the regular shortstop, which was also Larmore's position. Hornsby hit .281 that year while Larmore hit .286 in his four games for the Cards. Larmore was a year younger than Hornsby.
Bob was the first major leaguer out of the University of Missouri, which he attended in 1915-17. He played for the Cardinals in 1918 as well as for Houston, and was with Houston and Dallas in 1919.
He is also known as Red Larmore.
