Biographical Information[edit]

The brother of Roy Hartsfield, infielder Bob Hartsfield played in the minors for eleven seasons. After a knee injury ended his playing career, he was a minor league manager and scout. Hartsfield was a scout for the Chicago Cubs (1965, 1977-1981) Atlanta Braves (1966-1970), San Francisco Giants (1971-1973), Houston Astros (1982-??), and New York Yankees. He was the Seattle Mariners Major League advance scout in 1991-1992. Among the players he signed were Deion Sanders, Bill Mueller, and Russ Ortiz. Hartsfield was the Scouting Director of the San Francisco Giants from 1994 to 1997.

Away from the diamond, Hartsfield was also a longtime college basketball referee.
