Bo Waddle debuted with the 1947 DeLand Red Hats, hitting .294. He did not play professional baseball again until 1951, when he lit up the Western Carolina League. Playing for the Morganton Aggies, Bordie batted .369 with 24 homers and 107 RBI. He led the WCL in homers, was third in RBI and fifth in average. He had only 18 HR in his 6 other pro seasons. In 1952, he was with the Savannah Indians and batted .281/~.377/.386 in his first trip to A ball. The next year, Bo batted .233 for Savannah. He split 1954 between the Greenville Spinners and Rock Hill Chiefs, hitting .293. Solely with Rock Hill in 1955, Waddle whacked the ball to a .357 clip with 82 RBI, second to Bob Jarvis in average and 4th in the Tri-State League with 82 RBI. In his final season, he hit .278 for the Montgomery Rebels and Knoxville Smokies.

Personal Remembrance

Bo Waddell (sp?) was a veteran outfielder for the 1955 Rock Hill Chiefs in the Class B Tri-State League. He was of about average height, but tended to be overweight in 1955. I believe he batted left-handed, but I'm not sure. (I was a pitcher on this team). Despite his bulk, Bo was a very good ballplayer and seemed to be an excellent hitter, as I remember. He probably played pro ball for a few years prior to Rock Hill ('55), possibly with the Charlotte Hornets. Bo may have been from North Carolina. He was affable and friendly as a teammate.
