Biographical Information[edit]

Blake Nation was a pitcher at Georgia Southern University who was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 22nd round of the 2008 Amateur Draft. He played in the Mariners minor league system from 2008-2010, reaching High-A in his final season. Nation spent the next three years pitching in the independent leagues. While playing professionally, Nation also completed his undergraduate degree in General Studies in 2012 and later earned a master's degree in Kinesiology and Coaching.

Nation also began his coaching career while playing in the independent leagues. He was an assistant coach for the East Georgia State College Bobcats in 2012-2013. In November 2013 Nation was named the head coach of the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs which competed in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. In his four seasons as head coach, the Dawgs made the playoffs each year and won league crowns in 2015 and 2017. In addition, Nation was named the League's Coach of the Year in 2016.

While coaching the Dawgs, Nation returned to collegiate coaching as an assistant pitching coach for the University of Tampa Spartans in 2016-2017. The following year he was an assistant coach for the Florida SouthWestern State College Buccaneers. After the season he served as the head coach for the Vermont Mountaineers in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Nation's next stop lasted a bit longer as the pitching coach for the Hofstra University Pride from 2019-2021. He stayed in the Colonial Athletic Association for his next job as pitching coach for the Towson University Tigers. He remained with the Tigers until early 2023.

The Milwaukee Brewers hired Nation as a development coach for the DSL Brewers 1 in 2023 and pitching coach of the ACL Brewers in 2024.
