Biographical Information[edit]

Blair Erickson pitched in the Minnesota Twins system from 2007 to 2009. He was drafted thrice — initially by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2003, then by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2006 and finally by the Twins in the 10th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He was signed by scout John Leavitt.

He was a Collegiate Baseball Freshman Player of the Year co-winner (with pitchers Wade LeBlanc and Tim Lincecum), despite posting a 4.10 ERA. In 30 games that year, he had 17 saves and 51 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings. He performed better the next two campaigns, saving 23 games and striking out 109 batters in 87 1/3 innings between them. His combined ERA was 1.96.

He had 11 saves and a 1.53 ERA in 18 games for the Elizabethton Twins in 2007 and in 2008, between two clubs, he had 76 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings, while posting a 2.87 ERA. His ERA rose to 4.39 for the Fort Myers Miracle, though he had 15 saves and averaged nearly 11 strikeouts per nine frames.

Erickson went 5-8 with a 3.31 ERA, 27 saves and 156 strikeouts in 130 2/3 innings.
