Biographical Information

Bill Connors took the mound 26 times in parts of three seasons, pitching for the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets. He made his lone big league start on September 2, 1967 for the Mets against the Cubs. He went four innings, gave up four hits, four earned runs, walked two and struck out three in a no decision.

Connors was the third baseman and five hitter on the Schenectady team that won the 1954 Little League World Series; one of his teammates was future Dodger Jim Barbieri. Connors later had a long big league coaching career, starting as a member of the Kansas City Royals staff in 1980 and 1981. He was a Chicago Cubs coach from 1982 to 1986 and a part of the Seattle Mariners coaching staff the next two seasons, 1987 and 1988. In 1989 and 1990, he was with the New York Yankees before returning to the Cubs from 1991 to 1993. He spent the next two seasons, 1994 and 1995, back with the Yankees and returned to the Yanks for a third stint in 2000. He served as Vice President of Player personnel for the Yankees from 1996 to 2012, passing away at 76 in 2018.
