Biographical Information

Jim Barbieri played in the 1954 Little League World Series on the same team as Bill Connors. The opposing team included Ken Hubbs. Barbieri, who was team captain in 1954, had also played on the 1953 team that finished second. As a result, he got the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch in Game 1 of the 1954 World Series. He later played baseball for Linton High School, leading his team to three league titles.

Jim's big league career consisted of playing 39 games in the second half of the season for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1966, and appearing briefly in that year's World Series. At the time he was called up to the Dodgers, he was leading the Pacific Coast League in batting average. When he appeared in the 1966 World Series, he became the first person to play in both the Little League World Series and the major league World Series. He also played for the Spokane Indians between the years 1963-1969 and in Japan in 1970.

After baseball, he worked for many years for a beer distributor. He was an inaugural inductee to the Capital District Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
