Biographical Information[edit]

Billy Arnold played two games in the National Association in 1872 and umpired one game in the circuit in 1875. He served as President of the New York State League in 1885.

"Billy Arnold, who managed the famous Nationals of Albany, in 1878, when Tom Burns, Ed Hanlon, Fred Dunlap and other fast youngsters were coming to the front, died at Albany Jan. 18 of apoplexy. Arnold was a fine player in the early 70s, at Middletown, Conn., his native town, where the famous Mansfields held forth from 1869 to 1872." - obituary appearing in Sporting Life, January 28, 1899 issue
