Biographical Information[edit]
On June 16, 1928, infielder Bill Regan became the first player in the history of the Boston Red Sox to hit two home runs in one inning. He accomplished the feat in the 4th inning of a 10-6 win over the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park, connecting against Ted Blankenship and Sarge Connally as Boston scored 8 runs in the frame. He was the Sox's regular second baseman from 1926 to 1930, but did not have much power: his highest homer total in that span was 7, in 1928, and he hit a total of 17 in 613 games for the team.
In January of 1931, he was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates and started the season with them. However, he was released after hitting .202 in 28 games. He finished that season with the Baltimore Orioles of the International League and continued to play in the minor leagues until 1935.
