Biographical Information[edit]

TedBlankenship2.jpg

Pitcher Ted Blankenship was a mainstay in the Chicago White Sox rotation for much of the 1920s.

Blankenship was purchased by the Sox in the fall of 1921 from a Texas League club but missed the first half of the 1922 campaign after being injured in a car accident. He won 17 games in 1925, finishing 17-8, 3.03 in 40 games (23 starts). He recorded three straight double digit victory seasons from 1925 to 1927 but he broke his finger during the 1926 tilt and was never again able to attain his previous success, making his final appearance in 1930. Ted's brother, Homer, was a teammate with the Sox in 1922 and 1923. Ted died in 1945 at age 43.
