The brother of Jack McKeon and uncle of Kasey McKeon and Kelly McKeon, Bill McKeon was a minor league catcher for five years.

McKeon debuted in 1952 with the Welch Miners, hitting .307/~.411/.459 in 80 games. He led Appalachian League catchers in fielding percentage (.986). In 1953, Bill struggled with the Eau Claire Bears. He hit just .229/~.286/.336 and led Northern League catchers with 25 errors, fielding only .936 behind the plate. He was second to Frank Calo with 12 passed balls.

In 1954, Bill played for the Lawton Braves. He batted .295 with two homers and 35 RBI. McKeon apparently did not play in 1955. In 1956, Bill was on the Evansville Braves, hitting .286 with 14 RBI. He split 1957 between Evansville (0 for 3) and the Waycross Braves (.327/~.371/.425 in 68 games) to wrap up his career.

McKeon later scouted for the Kansas City Royals (1969-1971) and San Diego Padres (1981-1990). McKeon was an assistant baseball coach for Mount Saint Clare College (now Ashford University) from 1994-1997 and later an assistant coach of the Frontier League's Evansville Otters (Evansville, IN) from 2005-2007.
