Biographical Information

Bill Jones was listed as a catcher and outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles of the American Association in 1882 and with the Philadelphia Keystones of the Union Association in 1884, playing four games for each team. However, this identification was based on flimsy evidence.

In 2017, SABR confirmed that the 1882 player was in fact David Jones of Ilion, NY. Thus, Bill Jones, whoever he was, would only have played for Philadelphia.
