Biographical Information[edit]
Bill George pitched for the New York Giants at a time when the team was full of future Hall of Famers. The pitching staff had Tim Keefe and Mickey Welch, while position players included Buck Ewing, Roger Connor, John Ward, and Jim O'Rourke.
George appeared in the most games in 1887, but in 1888 he was able to appear in post-season play, where he lost a game but hit .333. He umpired one National League game in 1889.
