Biographical Information[edit]

Son of Bill "Skip" Crouch, Bill Crouch pitched three years in the majors, going 8-5, 3.47 in 50 games. His best year was in 1939 when he went 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA for the Brooklyn Dodgers. On November 11, 1940, Crouch was traded by the Brooklyn Dodgers with Mickey Livingston, Vito Tamulis and $100,000 to the Philadelphia Phillies for Kirby Higbe. On June 21, 1941, Bill was selected off waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals from the Phillies. On December 12, 1945, he was released by the Cardinals. He was in the minors for seven years beginning in 1931. In 1938, he led the Southern Association with 21 wins. Crouch had a 72-65 record with a 4.36 ERA during his minor league tenure. He attended Eastern Michigan and later coached baseball there (1949-1964). Crouch died on December 26, 1980.
