Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Brenner was a minor league pitcher and catcher, almost entirely in the Western International League. Brenner caught from 1939-1941, hitting .310 with 15 home runs in 1940. He then missed 1942-1944 due to military service. He returned in 1945 to play briefly in the Pacific Coast League for the Los Angeles Angels. Returning to the WIL in 1946, he hit .383 in 1949. In 1951, Brenner began pitching on occasion. He won 21 or 22 games each campaign from 1952-1954 while still playing the field sometimes. He finished his playing career in 1958. He was a player manager from 1947 through 1954 and 1957.
He was a player-coach for the Seattle Rainiers in 1955 and 1956, replacing Luke Sewell as manager late in the 1956 season; assistant general manager of the Portland Beavers in 1958 and a general manager of the Sacramento Solons in 1959.
