Biographical Information[edit]

Bert Graham had at least eleven seasons in the minors, and came to the majors in September with the St. Louis Browns in 1910 after he had hit .305 in the Cotton States League. At age 24, Graham was 12 years younger than his teammate, veteran shortstop Bobby Wallace.

It was Bert's luck that in his very first major league game, on September 9th, he was put in the lead-off position against the Chicago White Sox and pitcher Ed Walsh, a future Hall of Famer. He didn't get a hit, but did draw a walk, and in the second game of the doubleheader, he again led off and this time hit a double. September 15th against the New York Highlanders was a big day for Bert, as he batted sixth in the lineup, one ahead of Wallace, and hit his only major league triple, getting two RBIs that day.

From 1912-1917 he was primarily in the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League.
