Biographical Information[edit]

Ben Littles was a Negro League outfielder. He split was with the New York Black Yankees in 1948, then hit .204 for the 1949 Philadelphia Stars. Remaining with Philly, he was the right fielder and #7 batter for the East in the 1950 East-West Game. Littles doubled in Louis Louden against Connie Johnson in the 4th to tie the game, but then turned into the goat when he lost a fly by Art Pennington in the sun an inning later. Pennington wound up with the two-run triple that gave the West its winning margin. Littles was 2 for 3 on the day. He left the game when Charlie White took over for Sherwood Brewer at third and Brewer moved to right field. In the 1951 East-West Game, Littles pinch-hit for Johnny Hayes in the 9th inning. Facing Jay Heard, he tripled home Norman Robinson with the insurance run in the East's 5-3 win. That was Littles' last year in pro baseball.
