Biographical Information[edit]
Balbino Inojosa was a star in Venezuelan baseball in the days before professional play was established in the country.
He played as an amateur for the Royal Criollos, Santa Marta, Concordia, Cardenales, Valdés, Victoria, Vargas and Magallanes clubs. With the Royal Criollos, he was 20-10 with a 1.02 ERA over five seasons. He won a pitching Triple Crown in 1931 (10-2, 0.72, 104 K in 112 2/3 IP). He also hit .264 at the plate. By the time the Venezuelan League was established in 1946, Inojosa was at the end of the line; he was 5 for 28 with a double and 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA in limited action from 1946-1949. In 2015, he was inducted into the Venezuelan Baseball Hall of Fame.
