Biographical Information[edit]
Art Hauger was used mostly as a pinch hitter by the Cleveland Naps in 1912. He was 20 years old at the time, but not the youngest player on the team that year. He had been mostly in the low minors in 1911, and after 1912 had a long minor league career as a player and manager.
Sporting Life reported that he fractured a leg earlier in 1912.
Hauger led the 1925 Virginia League with 183 hits for the Kinston Eagles. He later manged the team for part of the 1927 season.
He served in the Coast Guard Reserve during World War II (BN). Later he worked for Western Pipe & Steel while working part-time as a scout for the Chicago White Sox until he died from a heart attack in 1944.
