Biographical Information[edit]
Art McGovern spent almost all of his pro career playing in the New England League - ten years - but came to the majors for 15 games with the 1905 Boston Americans. Jimmy Collins was his manager and Art was 15 years younger than teammate Cy Young.
The SABR biography indicates he was a member of the Boston team for the entire 1905 year but was hospitalized in mid-season and lost a lot of weight. After his pro career, he ran a pool/billiards parlor until he had a stroke and died a few months later.
