Biographical Information[edit]

Art Goodwin struggled in his one game in the majors but was successful in the minors. On October 7, 1905, the last day of the season, manager Clark Griffith of the New York Highlanders put Goodwin in to pitch against the Boston Americans. He got one out, but gave up two hits, two walks and four runs. Art was the first major leaguer with the last name Goodwin, but the second baseman that day for the Americans had a very similar name, John Godwin.

Records are not complete for Art's minor league career, but he apparently pitched from 1899 to 1911. With the 1899 Wilkes-Barre Coal Barons, he was 11-4, while with the 1904 Memphis Egyptians he went 17-6.
