Biographical Information[edit]
John Godwin played for the Boston Americans in 1905 and 1906. His cup of coffee in 1905 was quite good, with a .326 batting average and the highest OPS+ on the team. However, in 1906 he hit .187 and that ended his major league career.
Most of Godwin's pro career was in the Three-I League. He played at least five years for Bloomington and additional years for other teams in the league.
He was born and died in East Liverpool, OH. Several other players have been born in East Liverpool, including, most notably, Hi Myers and Bernie Allen.
