Biographical Information[edit]
Art Brouthers received 144 at-bats during the first half of the 1906 season with the Philadelphia Athletics managed by Connie Mack, a team which finished 78-67. He was mostly a third baseman; the hot corner that year was primarily manned by 20-year-old John Knight, who hit .194 but had slightly better fielding numbers than Art. Knight had been the regular shortstop in 1905 for the team at age 19. Art played for Toledo in 1904 and spent part of 1906 at New Orleans.
