Biographical Information[edit]

Arismendy Mota spent four seasons in the minors.

Mota was 0-2 with a 6.86 ERA and 1.93 WHIP for the 2006 DSL White Sox. He was 4-3 with a 4.61 ERA for the DSL White Sox 2 in 2007. His six balks led the Dominican Summer League; only J.C. Ramirez (7) had more in the minors. With the same club in '08, he had a 1-7, 4.48 record but did not have any balks in 68 1/3 IP. He tied for 5th in the DSL in defeats. He was 7-2 with a 1.81 ERA for the 2009 DSL White Sox, striking out 80 and walking 19 in 89 2/3 IP. He tied for 8th in the DSL in wins and tied Jose Quintana for 6th in strikeouts.

The Washington Nationals took him with the first pick of the AAA phase in the 2009 Rule V Draft. He was then dealt to the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations, an unusual move for a pick the AAA phase of the Rule V Draft. He never pitched in the Cubs system, though, ending his minor league career at 12-14, 3.73 in 61 games, all in the DSL. He struck out 199 in 246 innings while allowing 236 hits and 101 walks.

He later pitched in the Colombian League. With the Caimanes de Barranquilla in 2015-2016, his 2.92 ERA was good for thirs in the league behind Ali Williams and Porfirio Lopez. He was on the Colombian national team roster for the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but did not get into a game (they did not use 6 of their 15 pitchers) as the team won a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
