Biographical Information[edit]
Poor Archie "Lumbago" Stimmell had the misfortune to go 5-19, winning only 20% of his decisions.
He is a cinch to make the "All Medical Ailments Team", along with Joe Strain, Aaron Clapp, and perhaps Al Lefevre and the various Lefebvres.
His three years in the majors were with the 1900-1902 Cincinnati Reds, teams which featured the young Sam Crawford and Harry Steinfeldt. Stimmel was several years older than them.
Although statistics are incomplete, Archie probably won over 100 games in the minors.
He was the first player named Archie to make the majors.
