Biographical Information[edit]
Antonio Candelaria was one of the few amateurs picked for the Puerto Rican national team in 2011. He went 1 for 5 with a strikeout in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, getting into one game at 3B (behind Jeffrey Domínguez) and two at DH. His lone hit came off Tim Karkatselos of Greece. He was 0 for 3 with two whiffs as a pinch-hitter and backup DH in the 2011 Pan American Games. In the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, he went 2 for 7 with a double and 2 hit-by-pitch while splitting 1B with Gaby Martinez. Both hits came in the 8-1 Bronze Medal game loss to the Dominican Republic.
