Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Anthony Molina had a rough major league debut for the Colorado Rockies in the first game of the 2024 season. He came in with one out in the 3rd inning in relief of Kyle Freeland who had already surrendered 10 hits and a walk, and proceeded to give up another six hits and a walk while recording just one out before being lifted in favor of Jalen Beeks who got the final out of the nightmarish inning. Altogether, the Arizona Diamondbacks scored a team record 14 runs on 13 hits in the inning, on their way to a 16-1 win. It was the biggest inning by any team on Opening Day since at least 1900.
Molina was taken by the Rockies from the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2023 Rule V Draft on December 6, 2023. He had been signed by the Rays as an international amateur free agent on July 2, 2018.
