Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Anthony Contreras played in the San Francisco Giants' chain in 2005-2007 and the San Diego Padres' chain in 2008-2013. In his nine seasons Contreras appeared in 729 games and hit .257/.292/.342. He also pitched in 11 games with a fine 7.29 ERA. Contreras played briefly in the independent leagues in both 2008 and 2013, most likely after being released by the Giants and Padres, respectively.

Contreras became a manager with the AZL Padres in 2014 when Rod Barajas was moved up to hitting coach in A ball. He then began the next year as skipper of the Tri-City Dust Devils. He was slated to manage Fort Wayne again in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Contreras managed the Lehigh Valley IronPigs from 2022-2024. The 2022 squad had the IronPigs first winning season since 2018. In addition, during these three years the win total for Lehigh Valley increased each year.

After the 2021 season he also managed the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League.
