Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Anthony Caronia was taken in the 27th round of the 2012 amateur draft by the Baltimore Orioles; the scout was Jim Thrift.

Largely lacking power and on-base ability -- his career slugging mark was .314 (he had three home runs and 22 doubles in 1,025 plate appearances) and on-base percentage was .318 through 2016 -- Caronia did show flashes of greatness elsewhere. In 2014, for the Delmarva Shorebirds, he hit .364 with 12 home runs in 53 games; the next year, he had 20 stolen bases.
