Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ángel Perdomo was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an amateur international free agent on November 28, 2011. He began his pro career the next summer, 2012, with the DSL Blue Jays, where he had no record and an ERA of 5.40 in 7 games. With the same team in 2013, he saw a lot more action, going 0-1, 3.04 in 12 games and striking out 43 batters in 26 1/3 innings. In 2014, he moved over to the U.S. and played for the GCL Blue Jays, going 3-2, 2.54 in 13 games. He continued to post a very good strikeout rate with 57 Ks in 46 innings.

The Blue Jays continued to move him up slowly, having him play in short-season ball for a fourth year in 2015, this time with the Bluefield Blue Jays in the Appalachian League and the Vancouver Canadians in the Northwest League. He did very well, ending up with a record of 6-1, 2.60 in 14 games, including 12 starts. In 2016, he was with the Lansing Lugnuts in the Midwest League where he went 5-7, 3.19 in 27 games. He pitched 127 innings and piled up 156 strikeouts as he continued to do well, even if his progress up the organizational ladder was slow. He was named to the World Team for the 2016 Futures Game, confirming that he was now considered a top prospect. In 2017, he was with the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League where he went 5-6, 3.70 in 16 starts, but his season ended with a injury on July 7th. He went back to Dunedin in 2018, but again missed part of the season with an injury and ended up at 1-5, 3.63 in 26 games, but only 12 starts. He continued to post excellent strikeout numbers, with 100 in 79 1/3 innings against just 35 walks, but he was getting lost in the shuffle with the Blue Jays system full of promising young arms. Thus, when he became eligible for free agency after the season, he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on November 12th; the signing came with an invitation to spring training in 2019.
