Biographical Information[edit]

Andy Cosme has played in Cuba and for the Cuban national team.

Cosme debuted in 2015-2016 for his hometown Cazadores de Artemisa, hitting .190/.266/.207 but throwing out 50% of those who tried to steal and being their most-used catcher. He improved his offense to .252/.316/.336 in 2016-2017 though his caught stealing percentage fell to 35. He hit .221/.294/.294 in 2017-2018 and was third with 12 sacrifice hits; he had 27 runs produced in 78 games. In the 2018 Haarlem Baseball Week, he was 1 for 7 with a walk, run and a RBI for Cuba. During the 2018-2019 Serie Nacional, he had a batting line of .319/.378/.407. He hit .297/.346/.416 for Artemisa in the first half of 2019-2020; when they didn't make the second half, he reinforced Matanzas but batted only .194/.256/.222 in 13 games for them. He was 1-for-15 in the postseason. [2] In 2020-2021, he hit .251/.350/.367 for Artemisa. In 2021-2022, he hit .208/.294/.342. When the Cuban Elite League formed in 2022, he hit .258/.333/.340 for the Tabacaleros.

He hit .348/.420/.491 for Artemisa in the 2023 Serie Nacional and .412/.421/.471 in the postseason. [3] In the 2023 Pan American Games, he backed up Andrys Pérez at catcher. He struck out against Venezuela's Andrés Sotillet to end a 6-5 loss; it was his lone plate appearance. He did not handle a chance in the field. [4]
