Biographical Information[edit]

Andújar Cedeño was signed as a free agent for the Houston Astros by scouts Adriano Rodriguez and Julio Linares on October 1, 1986. He saw action in seven big league seasons ranging from 1990 to 1996. Andújar was predominantly a member of the Astros, enjoying his lone season as a regular in 1993 and batting .283/.346/.412 with 11 home runs and 56 RBI in 149 games. On August 25, 1992, he hit for the cycle as part of a 4-for-5 day against the St. Louis Cardinals. The brother of Domingo and minor leaguer Edguardo Cedeno, Andújar was killed in a car accident three days before Halloween 2000 at 31. He had been driving to his home in La Romana, Dominican Republic after a game with the Tigres del Licey.
