Biographical Information[edit]

IF/OF Julio Linares played in the minor leagues from 1957 to 1973. Linares was in the San Francisco Giants chain from 1960 to 1973, spending 1969-1973 with the AAA Phoenix Giants.

Linares began association with the Houston Astros and his coaching career with the Covington Astros in 1973. He was the Houston Astros bench coach from 1994 to 1996. Linares was the Astros' director of Dominican Republic Operations for six seasons and has been the special assistant for Dominican scouting and development since 2005.

Linares' son Rodney Linares was the manager of the Greeneville Astros in 2008 and his son Amaury Linares has coached for the Astros' Dominican League team.
