Biographical Information[edit]

Andrey Shevchenko was on the Russian national team.

He hit .375/.444/.563 in the 2009 World Youth Championship, Russia's top hitter, and stole 4 bases in 4 tries while handling 10 chances error-free. He tied for 6th in the event in swipes, two behind leader Urving Kemp. [1] In the 2011 European Junior Championship, he produced at a .250/.348/.400 clip and was 2-for-2 in swipes. [2] In the 2013 B-Level European Championship, he was a solid backup for the senior team, going 3 for 7 with a walk and 3 RBI; a Maxim Shevchenko was a teammate (and presumably is a relative). [3]

In the 2014 European Championship, he was 5 for 12 with two doubles, a run and a RBI. Only Nikita Monakhov had more hits for Russia. Only Sergey Solovev had a higher average, though both he and Shevchenko did not get enough plate appearances to qualify. [4]
