Biographical Information[edit]
Playing for the Washington Nationals on August 13, 2024, first baseman Andrés Chaparro hit three doubles in four appearances against the Baltimore Orioles. That was tied for most doubles in an MLB debut since 1901 with Nick Evans (in 1908) and Ben Grieve (in 1997). Only five other players had had three extra-base hits of any kind in their debut during that time span. The previous season, playing for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on April 16th, he had made the news with an 18-pitch at-bat that included 12 straight foul balls, although that was not likely a record given the spottiness of minor league records older that an a couple of decades.
