Biographical Information[edit]
Andrés Arrieta has pitched in the minors and for the Colombian national team.
Arrieta was adopted at age 3. [1] He pitched for Colombia in the 2016 South American Championship, doing a fine job for the Bronze Medal winners. He beat Jonathan Farías and Peru, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings (1 BB, 5 K) before Luis Ortega relieved. Against Chile, he allowed one run in 3 innings (2 H, 3 BB, 1 K) before Ortega took over with a 2-1 lead. He was 9th in the round-robin phase in ERA, 8th in strikeouts and tied for first in wins. [2]
The right-hander was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scout Orlando Covo in July 2017. [3] He had a rough pro debut in 2018, split between the DSL Pirates 1 (1-0, 3 R in 7 IP, 8 K) and GCL Pirates (1-1, 9.82 ERA, 2.27 WHIP in 12 G, 7 WP in 11 IP).
