Biographical Information[edit]
Luis Ortega pitched for the Colombian national team that won the Bronze in the 2016 South American Championship. In his first outing, he pitched a scoreless inning with no hits or walks and fanning one against Peru, relieving Andres Arrieta in the 8th and relieved by Karl Triana, who closed out a 9-1 win. Against Chile, he relieved Arrieta with a 2-1 lead in the fourth but allowed five hits, three walks and five runs in two innings, striking out two; Angel Vilchez took over with a 6-4 deficit but Colombia rallied to win, 7-6, avoiding a loss for Ortega.
