Anastasio Somoza García
- Born February 1, 1896 in San Marcos, Carazo Nicaragua
- Died September 29, 1956 in León, León Nicaragua
Anastasio Somoza was dictator of Nicaragua for practically the entire period from 1937 to 1956, until his assassination. He was officially president for part of this time. His sons succeeded him as dictator. Somoza briefly managed the Nicaraguan national team. After the club lost to Mexico in the 1948 Amateur World Series, he fired skipper Juan Ealo and took over the team. After having finished third in the 1947 Amateur World Series, Nicaragua limped to a 1-6 finish under Somoza's guidance.
