Built in 1975, Aloha Stadium is primarily used as the football stadium of the University of Hawaii. Considered one of the finest collegiate stadiums in the country, it is also approved by Major League Baseball for play and hosted three San Diego Padres games in 1997. The stadium features a field turf playing surface and has an overall seating capacity of 50,000. What is unique about the stadium is that it was one of the first stadiums in the country designed with moveable grandstands to be a true multi-purpose arena. Aloha Stadium features four 7,000 seat sections which are built on a specially designed air cushion system which allows the stadium to take four shapes. From its original rectangular shape for football, the stadium can be widened into an alternate rectangle for soccer, made into a diamond for baseball, or made into a triangle shape for concerts and stage events. RFK Stadium had been designed with moveable seats and was built in 1962.

Aloha Stadium is the largest stadium in the state of Hawaii, and is owned by the state. It covers 104 acres and is so large that if you were sitting in the very top row it would be the same as sitting atop a ten story building.
