Biographical Information[edit]
Alexey Golubev was a DH/C for the Russian national team in the 1993 European Championship, backing up Sergei Korolev at catcher. He hit .176/.222/.176 but managed six RBI despite three hits; he led the team in RBI, one ahead of Alexander Vidjaev. He was the starting catcher for Russia in the 1995 European Championship. He was 1 for 18 and fielded .977 as their lightest-hitting regular; one of his teammates was Dmitry Golubev, presumably a relative. Alexey played in the Russian League for SKV in 1997, hitting .188/.278/.250, followed by .333/.515/.458 in 1998 and .368/.444/.500 in 1999. He did not make the league leaders any of those years. In 2000, he moved to RusStar and hit .339/.437/.492. Russian League stats in English are only available online for the 1997-2000 period (as of April 2016).
