Biographical Information[edit]

Alekandre Riabikov was on the Ukrainian national team in their first European Championship, the 1995 European Championship. He debuted as a pitcher versus France, relieving Sergey Makarov and going 3 1/3 IP; he allowed five hits, five walks and five runs (four earned) while fanning four and throwing three wild pitches. His next game was in left field, replacing Iouri Tourchenko and getting a hit off Russia's Andrey Bogatyrev. He started on the hill against Germany and lasted 1 2/3 IP (5 H, 3 BB, 1 K, 6 R, 2 ER) before Gennadi Mahno relieved; he took the loss against Frank Stattler. Their last two games, he started in left field, going 1 for 8 with two RBI. His 10.80 ERA tied Mahno for 5th on the 8-man staff.

He is likely the same player as Sacha Riabikov who was on the USSR national team in their last event, the 1991 Intercontinental Cup (that is the source for the birthday listed above). In that event, the right-hander was 0-1 with a 16.62 ERA, allowing 15 hits, 10 walks and 6 wild pitches in 8 2/3 IP. He lost to Yeu-Jeng Jong and Taiwan.
