Biographical Information[edit]

Alejandro Chavez pitched in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national team.

Chavez began his professional career with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in 2003, and he had a 6.83 ERA in 18 games in his first season. He also represented Mexico in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, posting a 1.42 ERA in four appearances; he tied Sergio Mora for the team lead in outings. He pitched for the Vaqueros Laguna in 2004 (1-2, 8.80), and he returned to the Diablos in 2005. Chavez was 0-1 with a 8.44 ERA that season, and he had a 4.50 ERA in 22 appearances in 2006. He also pitched 8 games with a 6.43 ERA for the Caneros de Los Mochis in the winter. Chavez was 5-7 with a 5.40 ERA for the Piratas de Campeche in 2007, and he improved to 5-2 with a 3.80 ERA in 2008. He allowed 16 runs in 11 2/3 innings in the winter, and he had a 2-4 record with a 5.77 ERA in 2009. Chavez allowed 12 runs in 7 innings for the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo in 2010, and he pitched 20 games with a 11.15 ERA for the Acereros de Monclova and his professional career ended.
