Alberto Azoy

From BR Bullpen

Alberto Azoy was a very successful Cuban manager. He led Habanista to the Cuban Winter League title in 1898-1899 (9-3-1) then led Habana to four titles in a row from 1901-1904 with a combined record of 65-11-3. He became the first CWL manager to win four titles, then the first to five (Esteban Bellán and Emilio Sabourin had each won 3). The club fell to 15-15 in 1905. Azoy then took the reigns of Club Fé, which had not won for 15 years. He took them to the pennant in 1906 at 15-9 for his 6th title; it would be over 20 years before Mike Gonzalez (one of Azoy's former players) surpassed his record for CWL pennants as a manager. Azoy's clubs fell after that - Club Fé was 16-14 in 1907, 12-29 in 1908, 2-14 in 1910 and 2-23 in 1910-1911.
