Biographical Information[edit]
In Al Luplow's best year, 1962, he and Chuck Essegian each played a lot of left field for the Cleveland Indians. Both of them had good years.
Al is remembered partly for a great catch in 1963, robbing Dick Williams of a likely home run.
The Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame indicates that Luplow played three sports at St. Andrew High School, and was a high school All-American. He played football and baseball at Michigan State University. In the minors he was a frequent all-star, playing at Batavia, Reading, Mobile, and Salt Lake City.
As of 2005 he was working part-time as a real estate appraiser. Source: Inaugural banquet
