Biographical Information[edit]

Al Krumm pitched one game in the majors for his hometown Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1889, facing the New York Giants, who had four future Hall of Famers in their lineup.

"The friends of Albert Krumm, a nice young pitcher living on the South Side, request me to announce that he would like to enter the field next year, and would like to begin in a small league. Krumm, they say, has ail the bulls and only needs to be taught how to use them properly." - Sporting Life's Pittsburgh correspondent, in the Nov. 30, 1887 issue

"Krumm made his debut with the visitors and was fairly effective, but his wildness was costly, especially in the first and seventh innings." - Sporting Life, May 22, 1889 issue

"Al Krumm, the local pitcher who helped out the Pittsburgs in 1889, was in town to-day. Krumm has been pitching for the Homesteads every Saturday during the season, and putting in the balance of the week in an iron mill. As there are prospects of a long strike or lockout of the iron men this summer, Krumm thinks he would like to go out. He has excellent speed, curves and good command of the ball." - Sporting Life, June 25, 1892
