Biographical Information[edit]
Akihide Shimizu represented Japan in the 2003 Baseball World Cup. He hit .387/.441/.548 with 11 runs in 10 games for the Bronze Medal winners, leading Japan in runs (one ahead of Yuki Ito) and one shy of tourney leader Omar Moreno Jr.. He fielded .864 at the hot corner. He played for Nippon Express in the Industrial League after college.
