Biographical Information[edit]

Aiichi Takeuchi was a star pitcher in high school and appeared in the 1921 summer Koshien tournament. The Japanese Professional Baseball League was not developed until he was 33 years old, so he did not play professionally except for a brief appearance for Asahi in 1941. The team's manager that year, he pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 6 walks, 5 runs (one earned), striking out two and throwing one wild pitch. He was 0 for 1 at the plate. The team finished only 25-59-1 that year, last in the circuit. They improved to 49-50-6 in 1942, then were 41-36-7 the next year, finishing in third place. He managed Chubu Nihon in 1946 to a 13-21-2 mark and was fired on July 13.
