Asahi
After the the 1940 season, Lion changed its name to Asahi, to comply with the outlawing of the English in Japanese baseball. The team also moved from Tokyo to Osaka. Asahi finished in last place in 1941, followed by a fifth place and a fourth place. The team placed fourth in the war-shortened 1944 season. The team returned after World War II as Pacific.
